Matt & Seanna’s Beach House
Ocean City, MD
The home celebrates the history and charm of Ocean City in an updated, modern fashion.
Growing up, Matt and Seanna spent their summers in Ocean City, where they met and eventually got married. Now, with children of their own, they wanted a beach house that would allow them to share similar experiences with their family. This led them to purchase a well-worn rental house and task us with completely rethinking its layout.
The roughly 1,000 square foot house was completely gutted and fully renovated inside and out. As part of the redesign, the layout was flipped allowing the living space to open up to the backyard providing for a more connected outdoor lifestyle.
A truly relaxed, indoor-outdoor atmosphere filled with custom design details.
The back half of the house was opened up and reprogrammed to create the ultimate hang-out space. Lined with custom built-ins, the main room has coffered ceilings, a large island, and is highlighted by a full-wall mural. A four-panel sliding door system and hydraulic awning window connect the space with the extended walk-out deck outside.

Careful planning allowed space for their family as well as room for visiting friends.
The front half of the house was converted to accommodate three compact bedrooms, each with its own unique feel and design aesthetic. For the girls’ room, stacked bunk beds were fit into the space creating a ship’s cabin feel. The primary bedroom has a colorful en suite bath and opens up to a private deck with an outdoor shower.
It was fun bouncing ideas off each other. The final design perfectly captures the beach-life vibe we were longing for, and the layout makes the most of every precious square inch.
